  1. Michel Kafando chosen as the Interim President of Burkina Faso
    1. Veteran diplomat Michel Kafando was on 17 November 2014 chosen as interim president of Burkina Faso. Michel Kafando will head the country until November 2015 elections.
    2. Michel Kafando was Burkina Faso's foreign affairs minister between 1981 and 1982 soon after  served as the country's ambassador to the United Nations from 1998 to 2011.
  2. Assam presents maiden state bravery award to Gunjan Sarma
    1. Assam government has presented the first state bravery award to Gunjan Sarma in Guwahati yesterday. The award was given by state Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Ajit Singh.
    2. 15 year old Gunjan, a resident of Sivsagar district has been selected for the first ever bravery award for saving lives of 10 school children last year.

  3. Pandit Jasraj awarded Sumitra Charat Ram Award
    1. Veteran classical vocalist Pt Jasraj was today conferred with the Sumitra Charat Ram Award for Lifetime Achievement.          
    2. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely presented the award, whose previous recipients are Pt Birju Maharaj, Kishori Amonkar and Mayadhar Raut.

  4. India and Australia on 18 November 2014 signed five pacts on social security, transfer of sentenced prisoners, combating narcotics trade, tourism, and Arts and Culture.
  5. International Buddhist Conference 2014 held in Nepal
    1. The International Buddhist Conference 2014 was held from 15 November to 18 November 2014 in Lumbini, Nepal. It was held with an objective of preserving Buddhist culture and heritage.

  6. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited Israel
    1. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on 13 November 2014 visited Israel to discuss bilateral issues including strengthening security ties and fight against terror.
    2. During his visit, he met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and held discussions to strengthen India and Israel bilateral relations.
    3. Both the leaders also discussed the regional situation and the evolving threats to the global communities from terror.

  7. Narendra Modi poses with ICC Cricket World Cup trophy
    1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with his Australian counterpart Tony Abbott and cricketing greats like Sunil Gavaskar, Allan Border posed with ICC Cricket World cup trophy at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Tuesday.
    2. Modi is currently in Australia and recently said that cricket is the common bond between India and Australia. Before visiting MCG, Modi himself admitted that visiting this historical ground, would be a delight for him.

  8. Terry Walsh Resigns as India Hockey Coach
    1. India's chief hockey coach Terry Walsh quit from his position after his contractual talks with Hockey India and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) broke down but a fresh proposal is still being worked out for the Australian's consideration.
    2. Walsh, whose contract was to come to an end on Wednesday, had already submitted his resignation last month after his demands for a greater say in team decisions and hand-picked support staff were turned down by HI and SAI.

  9. Vengsarkar to receive BCCI Lifetime Achievement Award
    1. Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar will receive the C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award for 2014.
    2. Vengsarkar was nominated for the award by a committee comprising interim BCCI president Shivlal Yadav, secretary Sanjay Patel and senior journalist Shekhar Gupta. Former India skipper Kapil Dev received the award in 2013.
    3. He is a member of the 1983 World Cup and the 1985 World Championship winning Indian teams and was rated the world’s number one batsman in the 1986-87 season.
