1. Indian Army and State Bank of India inked MoU
i. The Indian Army and State Bank of India (SBI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Defence Salary Package. 
ii. The MoU is tailor-made to suit the requirements of serving soldiers, pensioners and families. 
iii. The signing ceremony was chaired by the Adjutant General, Lt Gen Rakesh Sharma.
The revised MoU has incorporated a number of additional facilities and basic features of the MoU include the following

  • Number of free/concessional services like free drafts, free cheque books, free funds transfers to any bank in India through RTGS / NEFT, free ATM cards and others
  • The provision also includes the Nepal Express Remittance Scheme which enables instant fund transfers to Nepal for the benefit of the Nepali Domicile Gorkha Soldiers serving in the Indian Army.
  • Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) was enhanced and was linked to the Savings account instead of the debit card.
  • Exemption percentage of margin money for house and car loans was enhanced while the processing charges on the loans were waved off.
2. Chris Gayle hits first-ever World Cup double hundred
Chris Gayle, the Cricketer of West Indies on 24 February 2015 became the first person to make double century in any Cricket World Cup. He struck 202 off 138 balls in a match against Zimbabwe in World Cup 2015.

i) The match was played at Canberra's Manuka Oval and by the end of match Gayle scored 215 off 147 balls.
ii) This is the fastest double century in any ODIs, the previous record was held by Virender Sehwag of India who scored a double century off 140 balls. Sehwag scored a double century in a match played against West Indies at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore in December 2011.
iii) Apart from this, Gayle is the first cricketer outside India to smash a double-century in ODIs. The three Indians to score a double century in ODIs include Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma. The first-ever ODI double ton was scored by Sachin Tendulkar against South Africa in Gwalior.

3. Rana Bhagwandas first Hindu Chief Justice of Pakistan passes away
i. First Hindu Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Rana Bhagwandas passed away in Karachi, Pakistan. 

ii. He was the first Hindu and the second non-Muslim to head of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. 
iii. In 2005 for first time he was appointed as acting Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) for few days and again in 2006 during the absence of then CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry.
iv. During the Pakistan’s judicial crisis of 2007, he was again appointed as acting Chief Justice.

4. Ram Niwas Goel elected as Speaker of Delhi
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Ram Niwas Goel was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly. While AAP legislator Bandana Kumari was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the House.
n the Delhi Assembly election 2015, Ram Niwas Goel was elected from Shahdara constituency of Delhi. He defeated Bhartiya Janta Party’s Jitender Singh Shunty by a margin of over 11000 votes.
ii) Bandana Kumari is an AAP MLA from Shalimar Bagh constituency. In Delhi assembly election 2015, she defeated BJP’s Rekha Gupta by a vote margin of 10978.

5. Ranchi Rays crowned Champions of Hero Hockey India League 2015
Ranchi Rays on 23 February 2015 crowned champions of Hero Hockey India League 2015 (HHIL) by defeating Jaypee Punjab Warriors. The HHIL 2015 was held at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi from 22 January 2015 to 22 February 2015. The Grand Finale was witnessed by the eminent personalities. This is the third season of the professional field hockey tournament, Hockey India League.
