1. Loretta Lynch sworn in as first black female Attorney General of United States
i) Loretta Lynch has been sworn in as the first black female Attorney General of the United States.
ii) Lynch is known for her work on high-profile anti-terror cases.
iii) Loretta Lynch was sworn in as the US' 83rd attorney general on Monday, becoming the first black woman to hold the country's highest law enforcement position.

2. Lin Dan of China won men`s title of Badminton Asia Championships 2015
i) Lin, the No. 2 seed, defeated compatriot Tian Houwei 21-19, 21-8 in a match that lasted 50 minutes in the central city of Wuhan.
ii) Lin, a five-time world champion and twice Olympic gold medallist, racked up his fourth Asian title with the victory.

3. Apple sold 8 iPhones a second earning $40 billion in revenues!
i) Apple Inc announced its second quarter results on April 27, 2015 and reported a net profit of $13.6 billion as against $10.2 billion in the second quarter a year ago.
ii) The company sold 61.2 million iPhones in the quarter. In other words, Apple sold nearly 8 iPhones every second in the given three months of second quarter.
iii) US, once its prime market, contributed only 21% of its total revenues in the second quarter. 

4. Capgemini to buy software services firm IGATE for $4 b
i) French IT services company Capgemini on Monday announced the acquisition of US-based IT services company iGATE for $4 billion.
ii)  Through the acquisition Capgemeini, which has significant presence in the European market, is trying to widen its presence in North America.
iii) Apart from getting a strong-hold in the US, the buyout will also give Capgemini’s Indian operations a new scale, allowing it to compete on a par with the US and Indian companies.

5. AP Government appointed Chadalavada Krishnamurthy as Chairman of TTD
i) The Andhra Pradesh Government on 27 April 2015 appointed Chadalavada Krishnamurthy as the Chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Board of Trustees, a body which administers Tirupati's Lord Venkateswara temple.
ii) Principal Secretary of the Revenue (Endowments) Department, Commissioner of Endowments Department and Executive Officer of TTD would also be ex-officio members of the Board.

6. Yashwant Sinha honoured with Officier de la Légion d’Honneur by French Government
i) French Government has honoured former Union Finance Minister and veteran BJP leader Yashwant Sinha with Officier de la Légion d’Honneur (Officer of the Legion of Honour).
ii) It is the highest French civilian distinction bestowed upon him in recognition of his international action taken during his stint as Union Minister of Finance, Minister External Foreign Affairs and for his invaluable contribution to international issues.

7. Omar Hassan al-Bashir won the Presidential election of Sudan
i) Incumbent President of Sudan Omar Hassan al-Bashir on 27 April 2015 won the Presidential election of the country. He won another term in office with 94 percent of votes.
ii) The election results were announced by the election office after four days of voting. The head of the country's electoral commission said turnout was 46 percent.
iii) This win has extended Bashir’s tenure as President of the country for another five-year term. He had been in power in Sudan since 1989.

8. NTPC flags off Mobile Science labs to revolutionize rural education
i) India’s largest power producer, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) flagged off a Mobile Science Lab (MSL) as part of its efforts to promote scientific learning.
ii) MSL seeks to revolutionize rural education in India and make hands-on learning accessible to underprivileged children. Union Minister for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal flagged off three Mobile Service Labs.
iii) MSL is a vehicle fitted with LCD TV and is carrying working science models that give emphasis to curiosity-based learning for children in rural India.

9. Paralympic Committee of India suspended by government
i) The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) has been suspended with immediate effect for an unlimited period of time following poor management in the conduct of 15th National Para Athletics Championship 2015.
ii) Sports Authority of India had conducted an enquiry and on the report submitted by it, a show cause notice was issued to PCI. The government received a letter on April 15 from the International Paralympic Committee suspending PCI with immediate effect for an unlimited period of time.
