1. PM Narendra Modi inaugurates Badarpur-Faridabad Metro Line
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has flagged-off Badarpur-Faridabad Metro in Delhi National Capital Region (NCR).
  • This extension of the Delhi Metro connects Badarpur to Escorts Mujesar in Faridabad
  • There are nine stations in this section include Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector 28, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Neelam Chowk Ajronda, Bata Chowk and Escorts Mujesar.
  • It is also first environment-friendly metro in Indian as all the stations and depot have been equipped with solar power plants.

2. GSAT-6 successfully positoned in geo- sttionary orbit

  • Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has successfully positioned India’s latest communication satellite GSAT-6 into its orbital slot 83 Degree east after carrying out four drift arresting maneuvers.dailygk_1
  • It was carrying S-Band and C-Band transponders meant for public and strategic purposes. It weighs 2117 kg and has mission life of nine years. The satellite is having S-Band Unfurlable Antenna (UFA) of 6 m diameter.
  • This is the largest antenna ever made by ISRO for a satellite. This antenna is utilized for five spot beams over the Indian mainland to exploit the frequency reuse scheme and to increase frequency spectrum utilization efficiency in India.

3. Union Government to develop Bodhgaya as Spiritual Capital

  • Union Government is going to develop Bodhgaya in Gaya district of Bihar as Spiritual Capital of the country in order to serve the civilisational bond between India and the Buddhist world.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced, while addressing delegates from 90 countries on the concluding day of the International Buddhist Conclave held at Bodh Gaya.

4.”To the Brink and Back: India’s 1991 Story” by Jairam Ramesh

  • “To the Brink and Back: India’s 1991 Story” was written by former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh.
  • The book deals with fast-paced changes in the economic sector introduced by the duo P. V. Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh in 1991.
  • It was the first hand account in the sense it narrates author’s observations when he was part of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) during first 90 days of the Narasimha Rao’s government.
  • It also holds key documents and notes, placed for the first time in the public domain.

5.Shane Watson retires from Test cricket

  • Australia’s veteran all-rounder Shane Watson (34 years) has announced his retirement from International Test cricket.
  • He had played 59 test matches and scored 3,731 runs and took 75 wickets.
  • Watson captained his country in one test and nine one-day internationals. He was awarded Allan Border Medal in 2010 and 2011.

6. Indian boxer Vikas Krishan wins silver medal in 75 kg category

  • Indian boxer Vikas Krishan (75kg) won the silver medal in the Asian Championships.
  • In the final match he was defeated by Uzbekistan’s Bektemir Melikuziev by 0-2 score.
  • India finished their campaign with one silver and three bronze medals. L Devendro Singh (49kg), Shiva Thapa (56kg) and Satish Kumar(+91kg) were the bronze medal finishers.

7. Lewis Hamilton wins 2015 Italian Grand Prix of Formula One

  • British Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has won 2015 Italian Grand Prix of Formula One.
  • This was his seventh victory of the season.
  • His win for the season 2015 of Formula One began with Australian Grand Prix and later won Chinese Grand Prix, Bahrain Grand Prix, Canadian Grand Prix, British Grand Prix and Belgian Grand Prix.
