1. Renowned Telugu Cinema producer Edida Nageswara Rao passes away
i. Renowned Telugu Cinema Producer Edida Nageswara Rao passed away in Hyderabad, Telangana. He was 81.
ii. He had produced numerous landmark movies Telugu Cinema (also known as Tollywood).
iii. He was born on April 24, 1934 in East Godavari district of undivided Andhra Pradesh.
iv. He had started his career in film industry as a theatre artiste, dubbing artiste, film actor and later turned into a film producer by launching Poornodaya Movie Creations. His debut movie as producer was Siri Siri Muvva which was a runaway hit in 1978 and was directed by eminent director K. Vishwanath.
v. In all he has produced 10 movies which turned out to be very popular and were big hits. Movies produced by him are Tayaramma Bangarayya (1979), Shankarabharanam (1979), Seetakoka Chiluka (1981), Sagarasangamam (1983), Sitara (1984), Swatimutyam (1986), Swayamkrushi (1987) and Apatbandhavudu (1991).

2. Portugal’s Luis Leao Pinto wins 2015 MTB Himalaya Title
i. Luis Leao Pinto of Portugal has won 2015 MTB Himalaya Title, Asia’s premier mountain biking race for the second time in the Solo Men’s category.
ii. With this victory he received the crown tile of ‘King of the Himalaya’ which he had earlier won in year 2013. 
iii. He took time of 27:29:22 to complete 500 km long 7 stages biking race which ended at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.

3. Shashank Manohar elected unopposed as BCCI president
i. Shashank Manohar has been elected unopposed as President of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the second term. 
ii. He belongs to Vidarbha Cricket Association and was elected by Special General Meeting (SGM) of BCCI. The meeting was called to elect President due to sudden demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya, who had served President for 7 months after winning election in March 2015. 
iii. In this by-election, Shashank Manohar was the only candidate in the fray and was unanimously backed by all the 6 units of East Zone as it was this zone’s turn to elect President this time. Shashank Manohar by profession is a prominent lawyer. 
iv. Earlier he had served as the 29th President of the BCCI from 2008 to 2011. As a cricket administrator he is known for his impeccable clean image and track record & integrity in cricketing circles.

4. World Bank released global poverty projections for 2015
i. World Bank on 4 October 2015 released global poverty projections for the year 2015. As per the projections, the number of people living in extreme poverty around the world is likely to fall to under 10 percent of the global population in 2015.
ii. Consequently, the world is all set to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 1- ending poverty in all its forms by 2030.
iii. The projections were based on the updated poverty line of 1.90 US dollars per day on the 2011 Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) exchange rates basis. The earlier poverty line was 1.25 US dollars per day at 2005 PPP exchange rates.

5 . Flipkart appointed Sriram Venkataraman as Chief Financial Officer
i. India’s e-commerce giant, Flipkart, on 4 October 2015 appointed Sriram Venkataraman as the new Chief Finance Officer (CFO) for its commerce platform (CP). The homegrown online marketplace also appointed Pramod Jain as Vice President and Head of Taxation.
ii. Venkataraman will watch over all aspects of the finance function for CP. He will also be responsible to drive the CP business to deliver its goals.
iii. Jain will play an important role in taking the tax team’s engagement with revenue and government authorities to the next level.
