1. Urjit Patel assumed charge as the 24th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.

2.  Every year 5th September is being observed as National Teachers Day in India.

3. The Postal Department has released a commemorative stamp to honour the Mother Teresa’s canonization in Mumbai. 

4. The Karnataka State Wildlife Board, chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has decided to declare Ankasamudra tank in Hagari Bommanahalli taluk as a bird conservation reserve.

5. Goa will host a three-day bird festival from November 11 to 13, targeting audiences from both within the country as also internationally.  Goa's state bird “Bulbul” has been chosen as the logo for the festival.

6. Noted Assamese poet, author and literary critic Nalinidhar Bhattacharyya passed away in Guwahati, Assam due to age-old ailments. He was 95.

7. Canada’s British Columbia province has become the first foreign government to issue of masala bonds, a rupee-denominated bond.

8. Software major, Infosys has entered into a joint venture (JV) with the Saudi Prerogative Company to offer IT services in the middle eastern country.

9. Assam-based ecologist and conservation activist Bibhuti Lahkar has become the first Asian to be awarded the prestigious 'Heritage Heroes Award' by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). 

10. Chinese President Xi Jinping today announced the culmination of 11th G20 summit in Hangzhou. Briefing media Mr Jinping said, the summit concluded with success and it achieved its main goals. He said, the summit ended with extensive consensus on wide range of important topics. Mr Jinping said, innovation will become a new engine of world economic growth. He said, G20 must display spirit of solidarity, partnership and the member countries are confident to restore the world’s economy.

11. The World’s largest LEGO ship named Jubilee Seaways has created Guinness world record for set in Denmark, where employees of a shipping company successfully constructed the incredible 2,860 kg boat using over one million interlocking plastic bricks.
