1. China has agreed to import rice, non-basmati and basmati varieties from 17 registered mills in India. These mills are in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

2. The indigenously built nuclear capable Agni-I ballistic missile was successfully test-fired from a test range off Odisha coast, as part of a user trial by India Army. It was test-fired from a mobile launcher from the launch pad-4 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Abdul Kalam Island (Wheeler Island). The last trial of Agni-I was conducted successfully in March 2016 from the same base.

13. Professor MGK Menon, an acclaimed physicist, who had played a prominent role in the development of science and technology in the country over the last five decades, breathed his last in New Delhi yesterday. He was 88 years old. He leaves behind his wife, a son and a daughter.

14. Renowned Hindi and Bhojpuri litterateur Dr Viveki Rai passed away today in a Varanasi hospital after illness. 92-year- old Dr Rai was born in 1924 in Ballia district of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
