1. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued new series of notes for 500 rupees and 2,000 rupees denomination with improved features and newer sizes. These new series of notes was issued following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement that Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes now in use will no longer be legal tender.

2. The 9th Annual Meeting of International Regulatory Cooperation for Herbal Medicines (IRCH) was inaugurated in New Delhi. It has been organised by the Union Ministry of AYUSH and was inaugurated by Minister of State (MoS) for AYUSH Sripad Naik. In this meeting 19 member countries of IRCH with 36 delegates including experts from WHO are participating. The event would be utilized to show case AYUSH strength to these countries.

3. Scientists have detected the presence of water on Psyche, the largest metallic asteroid in our solar system. It was detected based on the new observations from the NASA’s Infrared Telescope Facility (IRTF) in Hawaii. The telescope observations show evidence of water or hydroxyl on its surface.

4. The Union Government has appointed Praveen Kumar Sharma as the Central Registrar (CR), Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Central Registry of Securitisation Asset Reconstruction and Security Interest of India (CERSAI). He was appointed by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) for the tenure of three years. Prior to this appointment he was Sharma General Manager at State Bank of India (SBI).

5. President Pranab Mukherjee presented the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE Awards to the children winning IGNITE competition at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This year, total 31 students were awarded for their ideas and innovations in the IGNITE competition organized by the National Innovation Foundation (NIF).

6. China has decided to once again block India’s bid for Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) membership ahead of plenary meet of NSG in Vienna, Austria. Earlier, China along with few other member countries of NSG had blocked India’s membership proposal in the plenary meet of NSG in Seoul, South Korea in June 2016.

7. India and the United Kingdom have signed two memorandum of understanding (MoUs) to boost relations between the two nations. These MoUs were signed during the official three days state visit of UK Prime Minister Theresa May to India. It was her first bilateral visit outside Europe after becoming PM and after UK’s decision to exit from European Union.

8. Indian archaeologists are planning to use Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) technology to survey the archaeological evidence, flora and fauna in the ancient Rajgir hills in Bihar. The LIDAR devices mounted on drones or on helicopters will be deployed as part of the inter-disciplinary Rajgir Archaeological Survey Project (RASP).

9. Billionaire-turned-politician Donald Trump has been elected the 45th President of the United States.

10. The Centre has decided to open Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Kendra in every Parliamentary Constituency to impart skill training to the people and make them employable.

11. The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Limited (ECGC) onNovember 8, 2016) in New Delhi.

12. Acclaimed Indian American fiction author Amitav Ghosh, 60, has been named for 2016 Tata Literature Live! Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Indian literary space.

13. Janet Reno, the first woman to be appointed as Attorney General of US, passed away as a consequence of Parkinson’s disease.
