1. The United States House of Representatives has passed an amendment to National Defense Authorisation Act (NDAA), 2018, a $621.5 billion defence expenditure bill to advance defence cooperation with India.

2. India’s Sundar Singh Gurjar (21) won gold medal in the men’s javelin throw event at World Para Athletics Championships held in London, United Kingdom.

3. Raipur’s Swami Vivekananda Airport was ranked first in Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Survey among 49 airports in the country. It has achieved 4.84 score on a five point scale index.

4. India and European Union (EU) have established Investment Facilitation Mechanism (IFM) for EU Investments in India. The mechanism will allow for a close coordination between EU and India with an aim to promote and facilitate EU investment in India.

5. The World Youth Skills Day is observed globally on 15 July every year to raise awareness about the importance of investing in youth skills development. Observance of the day aims to create more awareness on training and the development of skills for the youth of today and also create better employment opportunities for the youth. 2017 Theme is “Skills for All”. It is aimed at creating awareness that everyone should have the opportunity to discover and develop their talents. It also spreads message of creating a more prosperous future through skills.

6. Indian Railways has launched India’s first solar powered diesel multiple unit (DEMU) broad gauge train. It is 1600 Horse Power (HP) train with all solar powered coaches.

7. Mukesh Kumar Jain has been appointed as the managing director(MD)and chief executive officer (CEO) of Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) for a period of three years.

8. The Indian Railways has launched an integrated mobile application ‘SAARTHI’ to cater various passenger requirements, including ticket booking, inquiry, onboard cleaning and ordering meal on a single platform.

9. State Bank of India (SBI) will slash charges for National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) and Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) transactions by up to 75% to encourage more customers to transact digitally.

10. The union govt. has relaxed Foreign direct investment (FDI) norms in over a dozen sectors, including defense, civil aviation, construction and development, private security agencies, real estate and news broadcasting.

11. American Venus Williams will take on Spaniard Garbine Muguruza for the Women’s Singles trophy. With a win, Venus could become the oldest woman to win a Grand Slam singles title in the Open Era. Venus has to her name 7 major titles, 5 of which are Wimbledon trophies.
